My practice is centred around the expression of emotion and feeling through object, the resulting creations carry the intention of transmitting these feelings and experiences to the viewer while also offering a cathartic release for me as the maker.

I have long held a passion for interior design, abstract paintings and collecting beautiful objects, particularly ceramics. Investigating these inspirations led to questions about how our connections to material things carry a weight of meaning for each of us, through connection to memory, experience and the materiality of the natural world. Through objects we are able to construct soulful spaces that connect our mind and body and bring peace.

Using various ceramic hand-building techniques, I explore how the act of creating is a meditative release in itself. The delicate, monotone forms that emerged in this body of work were informed by the repetitive movement involved in piping and coiling, the focused, cyclical process and resulting circular forms invite the viewer to consider this journey.

The choice of porcelain for these pieces is also meaningful, it embodies the same connection to the earth as other forms of clay, but it has been refined and strengthened to elevate its aesthetic qualities, it’s hardness and delicacy, a perfect fusion of the natural world and the material one.

I hope that these pieces serve to inspire comfort both in their soft, tactile forms and the delicacy of light they cast, becoming one of those special objects in your sanctuary.
